but then you see another side to the hotel. dont let the reception area fool you, walking in and seeing the reception area you think yeah ok this is nice. since guidelines have now changed and made it mandatory for staff to wear masks we are currently adhering to this. With regards to face masks within the hotel we have been going of government guidelines. I will definitely use the Sea Hotel again because it is lovely, clean, good breakfast, nice clean rooms, facilities onsite (bars and restaurant, and their own entertainment at certain times) great location and handy for everything.Ĭhris Hunter, General Manager at The Sea Hotel, responded to this review :) Thank you for the review. I can't comment on the bedrooms in the main building, but we were really happy with our rooms in the Annex. Loca Restaurant looked lovely too, although we didn't try it. There was also Bars in the hotel, and we sat in one of them and had a lovely Baileys Latte. The Maritime Dining Room was beautiful and tastefully decorated. The Main building was very much like the photographs on their website. All the staff were helpful and friendly, and you could ask for more milk/sugar etc at any time. It would have been good to have had a small bottle of HandSanitizer in the pack, but there was Hand Sanitizer in the main building. Other than this, the hotel did observe Covid-19 recommendations, including handing out our complimentary te/coffee/milk/sugar/shampoo at the Reception, rather than having them in the Rooms. The Domestic staff who cleaned the rooms did wear face masks. The breakfast was fabulous, although the Dining Room staff did not wear face masks.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, handy for everything.
I liked the fact that there were switches next to the bed on the wall for the lights and TV, so there was no need for a lampshade. There is a disabled ramp outside the Annex as an option to enter the building as well as the normal entrance for anyone disabled, but there was no evidence of our rooms being specially adapted for disabled people, apart from them being on the ground level. There was a little bit of noise coming from the Loco Restaurant at the back of the Annex at night, but very little to be concerned about, and it went completely quiet well before midnight. The whole decor in both rooms was fine and it looked like they had been recenly decorated. Both bathrooms was very clean, although the tiles in both needed the grout touching up. The shower was fantastic, a power shower. Our beds were comfortable and had very clean white sheets. The rooms were furnished very modestly but were very clean. They looked like cute chalets, so we liked them straight away. We had a room each in the Annex which is situated just outside the main building on the car park.

The Hotel had good size car park with free parking. My friend and I stayed a few nights, second week in September. The redeeming feature was the food and drinks in the restaurant and bar 52 and the friendly staff in the areas. Also, the shower itself was too low down the wall to be able to stand under it. Luckily, there was hot water but the shower screen was not fitted correctly and constantly swinging back into the shower area and even though it was next to the shower, it was also right next to the sink, so you had to get into the bath to turn it on. The toilet was the perfect height for a child and the lid was not attched properly. The taps had no pressure control, as soon as you turned it on, it sprayed everywhere. Secondly, the bathroom was outdated and was in need of work.

Although there was a sea view, it was ruined by the sight of a dirty roof full of cables and pipes, not to mention that the window almost came off in my hand trying to open it as well as the safety catch being broken.

Firstly, the "wardrobe" was simply a rail at head height, the TV did not work and there was no booklets of information about it along with no wifi instructions. We werenot show to our rooms or even told where it was and when we got to the room we were disaponted at the lack of space and quality. The reception was lovely but beond that point it needed work. Stayed here for 2 nights in room 211 as it was a friend's wedding and that is the only reason we stayed.
